Rush – Spindrift

rush

"Spindrift" is the second single of Rush's 2007 album Snakes & Arrows. "The Larger Bowl (A Pantoum)" was originally going to be the second single, but was shortly after changed to "Spindrift". Although released as the second single from the album, the song failed to debut on any commercial chart, while "The Larger Bowl" managed to see chart status. According to Neil Peart, the lyrics to "Spindrift" use sea-weather imagery as a metaphor for a lover's quarrel, similar to "Distant Early Warning" from the album Grace Under Pressure. Snakes & Arrows debuted at #3 on the The Billboard 200 chart where it remained for 14 weeks. It was certified gold in Canada in September 2007. The album was named as one of Classic Rock's 10 essential progressive rock albums of the decade. It was reissued and remastered in 2013 as a part of the box set The Studio Albums 1989-2007.
